My Story

I’ve always been a creator at heart. As a kid, I had to have something to work on–a canvas to paint, a kitchen to bake in, and (if I was lucky) next-day shipping on amazon, put into action by my dad, to fuel my latest idea. My projects were rarely perfect. The drawings were wonky, the kitchen was too small to fit two people, and the birthday cake often looked… well, not like a birthday cake. But that never stopped me.

What mattered wasn’t the outcome–it was the passion. The imagination that turned a purple-painted dog into my golden mutt lounging across the couch. The joy of making, even if it wasn’t “the best.” That spark led me to start many businesses in my early teens–none of them failures, just stepping stones. There was Abigail’s Sweet Treats (baking), Abigail’s Candles, Beads Plus things (my first taste of jewelry-making), and Faith Shines, which slowly evolved into what is now Affinity. Each idea taught me something, but I also let fear and small criticisms silence me more than the praise ever lifted me.

When I started Affinity back up in January 2025, it felt different. I’ll never forget the lump in my throat when I told my friend Maddie about the idea on the bus. I was scared–afraid of being dismissed. Instead, she lit up! She was so happy for me, excited even. That moment changed something in me. It made me feel supported. It felt like coming back to that little girl with big dreams and messy hands, but this time with more courage.

I dream of growing Affinity into something big–really big. But no matter how far it goes, I want my customers to always know the face behind the brand. Maybe that’s my small-town roots showing but I would rather have no business than one without connection. This isn’t just about jewelry–it is about people, heart, and staying true to where it all started.
